‘Mayday’ is the bold, emotional new release from Lissy Taylor. On the impetus behind the track, she explains: “When I wrote Mayday I was fighting an internal war. I felt hopelessly misunderstood and alone.  I think there is strength in recognising that everyone has their own struggles that aren’t always visible”. These influences are reflected in her music, with a dreamy yet eerily dark atmosphere permeating the entire composition, and a wall of sound coming from crunchy, aggressive guitars. The video that accompanies the track follows Taylor through a forest, reflecting the vulnerability and darkness of the thoughts she mentions above through brown, blacks and greens and a variety of visual metaphors. The Stoke-based singer has certainly come a long way from playing cover songs in her bedroom. - Dan Peeke
